Kuujjuamuit Inc. would like to hire a Clean Energy Coordinator to support the development of a Community Energy Plan (CEP) in Kuujjuaq. Community energy planning is done to understand the community energy system, engage with the community members, and choose a pathway forward towards a clean energy future that sees the community using less diesel and benefitting from clean energy projects.
The Clean Energy Coordinator will be based in Kuujjuaq on a full-time basis (35 Hrs./week) and will be responsible for working with the General Manager to complete the CEP from initial stages to project implementation including the following duties:
  • Perform research and find information for the CEP;
  • Coordinate community information updates online, in newsletters, or other means;
  • Coordinate community engagement events, online or in-person;
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the community with respect to the CEP;
  • Support the development of tools, resources, and templates for CEP; and
  • Participate in planning meetings with the Energy Team, which includes Kuujjuamuit Inc., but also Indigenous Clean Energy and other technical subcontractors.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
  • Strong knowledge of the community of Kuujjuaq, local culture and history;
  • The ability to speak, write and understand Inuktitut would be a strong asset;
  • An ability to research community records to find specific information;
  • Knowledge of, and commitment to energy awareness, as well as a strong personal interest in energy and climate change issues;
  • An ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, to make decisions, exercise initiative and judgment, prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines while working within a team environment;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook;
Salary: Very competitive salary depending on qualifications/experience
